As an out-of-network provider, I do not participate in health insurance or managed care plans, meaning I do not file claims or negotiate rates with insurance companies. I am also not a Medicare or Medicaid provider, so clients must forgo these benefits to access my services. However, I accept HSA and FSA cards for payment.
After each session, I provide a detailed statement/receipt with all necessary information for potential reimbursement from your insurance. If you plan to seek reimbursement, please contact your insurance company in advance to verify your out-of-network benefits and coverage specifics. Reimbursement is issued directly by your insurance company according to your policy terms.
While out-of-network services may seem higher initially, there are key benefits:
Personalized Treatment Plan: Out-of-network care allows us to develop a treatment plan based on your specific needs, free from insurance constraints. This means we can tailor the therapy’s length, intensity, and type to your individual needs using evidence-based practices.
No Third-Party Involvement: By choosing out-of-network services, you avoid delays or complications often caused by insurance company involvement in billing or paperwork.
Long-Term Investment: Out-of-network therapy is an investment in high-quality, effective treatment that can reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing services, leading to long-term cost savings as therapy addresses issues effectively and sustainably.
Diagnostic Evaluation: A 90-minute initial evaluation is billed at $325. This includes the evaluation appointment, a review of relevant records, and initial contacts with other providers, if necessary.
Psychotherapy Sessions: After the evaluation, we’ll develop a tailored treatment plan. Therapy sessions are billed at $185 per 45-minute session, prorated based on time used. Extended sessions are planned in advance and billed accordingly.
Other Treatment-Related Services: Phone calls and report writing are billed at $185 per 45 minutes, prorated in 5-minute increments.
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept check, debit/credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards (if approved for service charges). A credit card must be kept on file, but you may choose an alternative payment method at any time.
Phone sessions, drive time to community or home-based sessions, and collaboration with other professionals will be billed at regular session rates.
Intake Appointment: Cancellations with less than 72 hours notice incur a $100 fee.
Subsequent Sessions: Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice incur a $50 fee the first time. After that, the full scheduled session fee will be charged. No-shows (missing an appointment without notice) will be charged the full scheduled session fee.
I prefer to use email for scheduling, sharing session goals/homework, and answering brief questions. While I take steps to protect your privacy, I cannot guarantee confidentiality over email.
I check email daily Monday through Friday and aim to respond within 24 hours on weekdays. Over weekends, my response time may extend to 48 hours. For immediate concerns, it’s best to contact me by phone.
I take your privacy very seriously. You can read a copy of my privacy practices here.
As required by the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), all healthcare providers are required to inform clients of their federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.” This law mandates that I notify clients of their rights to receive a notification when services are provided by an out-of-network provider, if a client is uninsured, or if a client chooses not to use their insurance. As an out-of-network provider, the cost of services is the client’s responsibility.
Additionally, I am required to provide clients with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services. It is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental health care, and each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental health care. Before we begin treatment, I ask that clients review my fees and policies. Throughout the course of treatment, we will collaborate to assess and determine how many sessions may be necessary.
